Planning a Wedding in Sydney and New South Wales
If you live in New South Wales, you already know that its towns and cities are fully equipped to make all of your wedding dreams come true. If you live in one of the other Australian states, consider visiting one of these wonderful places for a wedding that will be something to remember forever.
Sydney, of course, is the largest city in New South Wales, one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world. Of NSW’s six million or so people (and growing), roughly two-thirds of them live there. It's backdrops are not only breathtaking, but the wide variety of venues is amazing in itself!
Many civil wedding celebrants, wedding DJs, florists, photographers, and other vendors you’ll need to book for your special day are familiar with the logistics of its indoor venues. And if you travel outside of Sydney, many of them will travel to other venues within New South Wales.
The Royal Botanic Gardens is one of the most spectacular places on earth to hold a wedding. You can choose Lion Gate Lodge, Palm House, Maiden Theatre, Rathborne Lodge, or the Sydney Tropical Centre for indoor weddings.
If you want to take advantage of the beautiful outdoors, The Botanic Gardens Restaurant and Pavilion on the Park both book weddings. You can schedule your wedding outside of the Gardens and still come there to be photographed against exotic fig trees or majestic flower gardens, with the romantic harbour behind you, luxuriously green lawns, at one of the ponds, or any of many other places. You will need a permit for photography in the Gardens.
Maybe you’d prefer the Harbour Bridge behind you, or how about indulging your flair for historical romance by marrying on a tall timber sailing ship? Maybe a red-carpet event at the Opera House is your dream. If you’re a nature-loving outdoors type, possibly you’d just prefer to celebrate your vows on a pristine sandy beach not too far north or south from Sydney.
Sydney is your fast-paced center for everything you’ll need. You can find the most unique bombonieres, dresses, florists, caterers, and other wedding suppliers there, so even if you live outside the area Sydney can be your one-stop resource.
But New South Wales offers many other venues. Just two hours to the north you can marry in Newcastle, a city veritably surrounded by ocean that boasts six major beaches. This city of artists offers wedding sites near the Regional Art Gallery, or in the City Center, go up the hill to Christ Church Cathedral. You can also choose King Edward Park.
Go south of Sydney to Wollongong, and book your special day in a place that offers paragliding and kayaking. Board the Cockatoo Run—it starts in Sydney, picks up passengers in Wollongong, and sweeps you up to the treetops of the Illawarra Fly, some of the best and most unusual scenery in the world. You can book your whole party on the Cockatoo Run and get married on the beach or in a private chapel.
You can also have a snowy wonderland wedding in the Snowy Mountains in southern New South Wales. Accommodations alongside the majestic Kosciusko National Park offer you a wedding package with skiing or other snow-time activities, or in the off-season you’ll enjoy bush walking or water play.
Explore Wagga Wagga—the most populated interior city in NSW—as a place for your wedding in New South Wales. It’s a paradise for nature lovers or sports enthusiasts.
It’s well prepared to accommodate your guests, and yet after your ceremony is over and they’ve departed, you’ll find plenty of hiking and fishing as well as many cultural events.
You are considering plans for the biggest event of your life! Planning your wedding in New South Wales offers you so many options for vendors and venues, whether you seek the gown of your dreams, stationery items, bombonieres, limousines, wedding DJs, the most splendid wedding cakes and the most exacting chefs, you’ll find it here.
